Need
Publisher Holt, Reinhart, and Winston wanted to create a Web application for high-school students to research social studies topics.
Solution
I was contracted by Six Red Marbles to create this Web application. It is an example of data-driven Java Beans and JSP pages working together to provide an intuitive, configurable user interface. All the information presented is sorted into a hierarchy of several layers, from topic (such as World History and Culture) to category (such as Citizenship & Law) and finally to the research feature itself.
Even at the lowest level, features are still cross-referenced so that an individual feature shows the user other related research categories. The research features are presented in the form of textual documents, charts and graphs, and multimedia flash timelines and presentations.
