This required converting data from a desktop publishing format into Web pages while maintaining the content in a database to preserve its complex interrelations. [http://coffeeblack.org/work/gloss/] Industry -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Research Associate The Ohio State University Department of Linguistics [http://ling.osu.edu/] Columbus, Ohio September 2006 - present Development of OpenCCG, an open-source parser and realizer for Combinatory Categorial Grammar Integrated the SRI Language Modeling Toolkit for n-gram scoring using JNI to bridge to SRILM's native libraries. Built an automated tool that uses XSLT to generate documentation of the grammar specifications. Founder, Principal Technical Architect Coffeeblack [http://www.coffeeblack.org/] Cambridge, Massachusetts 1999-2006 Started a small consulting company focused on providing award-winning technology to clients. Architected and built the initial public release of Sermo.com, a popular J2EE/EJB 3 web application focused on knowledge-sharing in the medical profession. Created a web-based lesson planner application that won a prestigious MITX award. Mastered techniques and systems including object-oriented programming, hierarchical and relational data storage and transmission schemes, and standards-compliant Web interfaces. Employed only open-source development tools for coding, version control, and build automation. Donated free software applications and libraries to the larger community of developers. Provided a wide range of technical expertise, such as web interface programming, business logic and database interaction, and automated document format translation. Coordinated and mentored a team of ten other developers as Technical Team Lead for a large-scale electronic commerce project. Performed an advisory role, consulting with clients to define standards and technical architecture. Created object-oriented Javascript libraries that were adopted by many projects throughout the 1,500-person organization.
